This year, Play It Forward & The Guitar Center Foundation team up on ‘Instruments for Change’.
Starting on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28, folks can choose from a variety of ways to assist Play It Forward in obtaining instruments. The site offers Donation Voucher cards that range in value from $25 to $500. Guitar Center Foundation will match the donation amount selected, and funds will be used to purchase new instruments for children. PIF supporters can also buy unisex T-shirts emblazoned with the “Instruments for Change” slogan, as well as stuffed toys, including Teddy Bears, guitars and a stuffed Jerry Garcia Teddy Bear Mandolin Player!
Like Play It Forward, the Guitar Center Foundation believes music is the key to unlocking the mental, emotional and social potential of children, so we’re excited to have created this partnership with this organization. On its website, the foundation notes, “Children who study a musical instrument are more likely to excel in all other studies, have enhanced critical thinking skills and pursue higher education.” The foundation also notes quality music education, like the kind Play It Forward offers, “has been linked to motivation, self-confidence, the development of self-control, planning, problem solving, focus and verbal intelligence.
“Music is profoundly and universally human, and it has the power to cut through our differences and inspire a more unified society,” the foundation states.
Your tax-deductible donation to Play It Forward is a gift to a young person with a yet-to-be-discovered talent and a passion to share with the world. We are honored to have you join us as we work to remove the barriers to a more equitable future for everyone…and help build leaders, thinkers, doers, and innovators.
